Using a pinhole camera for taking photographs can be quite problematic. Generally exposure times tend to be much longer than those of a regular mass produced camera.  For this reason I tended to avoid taking portrait shots and focused largely on landscapes. Every now and then I would experiment with portraiture, but I often found the results to be lacking. In order to achieve better results I experimented and developed my own technique .

With the “Icons“ series I first started to experiment. Using a blend of old and technologies, I was able to create portraits that blended various aspects of the sitter. The “Thirteen” series as well as the “Oracles” series were created using the same technique.

The “Thirteen” series is a set of portraits of artists. In the main they are Artists from South Africa.

The Oracles series is a collection of portraits of people who, in various ways and at different levels, are working to change the status quo that they find.
