With New Eyes was built as part of a project to raise funds to help a township dweller build a more secure home for themselves.  A shack common to South Africa was turned into Camera Obscura. It was erected on two occasions at the Pretoria Zoo. The first time being part of the inaugural Cool Capital Biennale in 2014.

On learning of the project a benefactor from the UK helped with most of the costs of materials for the new home.
